"Luang Prabang" is a city in Lan Chang Style. Since the foundation of the city, it was call Chawa and change to Chiang Thong. Then King Phraphothisan relocated Prabang of Vieng Kam to the capital Chiang Thong, since then the city was named "Luang Prabang". Alright this a short brief about the history of "Luang Prabang" name.

"Luang Prabang" is also registered as World Heritage Site as there are many ancient places, temples and colonial house style. The city located beside Kong River and Kan River, all villagers are very nice and kind.

1. Phrathat Phusi/ Luang Prabang Viewpoint/ Sunset Point

“Phrathat Phusi" is one of interesting places in Luang Prabang where people can go up there for Buddha pray and see a 360 degree of Luang Prabang View. The highlight is the top of Phrathat and you can see Kan River and all unique style of villagers houses with mountain background. And Kong River that flow through the city. In the evening, here is also one of the most beautiful Sunset Point in the world.

2. Biking or walling around old building

The building designed since French Colonial Period (WW II) which is style keep western style of architecture. Nowadays, it becomes government office, hotels and shops. Moreover, there are also houses in original Lan Chang Style.

3. Wat Chiang Thong

Wat Chiang Thong is an ancient temple which was built in 1560 by King Chaiyachetthatirat. It is a temple with original Lan Chang Architecture and very beautiful. It is a place where you should not miss.

4. Ting Cave or Pak Au Cave

Ting Cave is a holy place of Buddhism and where they found Buddha Image more than 2,500 pieces which made from wood, silver and gold. People come here to pray to Buddha especially during Laos's New Year when people are coming to spring water to Buddha for their luckiness at Top Ting Cave and Below Ting Cave. Then they will go to Wat Pak Au Cave for Buddha water pouring which not too far from Ting Cave. We need to use flashlight to get in.

5. Dark Market Luang Prabang

This is the highlight of Luang Prabang at night. It is a walking street where many local products are selling such as handmade, art and silver products. For pricing, you should use your negotiation and bargain skills.

==> Opening time : 17.00-22.00 hrs.

==> Entrance fee : Free

6. Luang Prabang Palace (Museum)

The building in French style with Laos style roof and face to Phrathat Phusi located on the high area. The building with colonial art mixed with Lan Chang Style. Over all is quite a shady area.

==> Opening time : In the morning opens 8.00 - 11.30hrs. and ticket office close at 11.00 hrs. In the afternoon opens 13.30 - 16.00hrs. and ticket office close at 15.30hrs.

9. Tat Kwang Si Waterfall

The waterfall is 30 KM. away from Luang Prabang. It is the most beautiful waterfall in Luang Prabang and it is not too far from the entrance. There is bear centre where all rescued bear stay and some the entrance fee is to help the centre. The falls is very beautiful with clear emerald water which you can see through fishes at the bottom.

10. Give food to Monks

The beautiful way of life in Luang Prabang is when we see people with their sticky rice container and waiting for monks in an early morning. For anyone who would like to join this activity, you have to wake up early and go to walking street (Dark Market) and wait for monks.

==> If you are traveling by plane, get exchange money at the airport you will get a better rate than in the city

==> From the airport, there is a service bus to the city centre at 50,000 Kips (250 THB) per person

==> Laos people can understand Thai

==> Most of products are imported from Thailand so the price will be a littble bit more expensive

==> Hotel, there are many rate and level. For cheap hotel, I would recommended Soi Joma and near by. Hotel in old town area or near tourist attraction places where you can just walk to the place around the city

==> Ting cave and Tat Kwang Si waterfall you can buy joined tour package it will be cheaper
